Things to Do
With a reputation for being an energetic urban environment, Southie is the place to be when it comes to entertainment, dining, shopping, and leisure.
Begin the tour of your new neighborhood by exploring the area’s acclaimed restaurants. First up, locals adore the dishes found at Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant. This establishment is top-notch, serving classic American fares, including wood-fired pizzas, oysters, and hearty entrees. At Capo Restaurant & Supper Club, treat yourself to an eclectic, two-part experience. Start by indulging in a delicious menu of Italian cuisine. Afterward, make your way down to the restaurant's glittering supper club, which is set against the backdrop of a speakeasy.
Head out to one of Southie’s seasonal events or staple attractions. Every year on March 17th, residents and those living nearby grab their spots for the ultra-popular St. Patrick's Day Parade. Also, be sure to check the calendar at The Lawn on D. During the warmer months of the year, this outdoor event space hosts fun music and food events.
Tour your new city to the fullest by walking around the Seaport District. Tucked between West First Street and Seaport Boulevard, this part of Southie is home to a flourishing district of restaurants, shops, the Boston Children's Museum, The Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
Seeking a peaceful day in Southie? Walk or drive to the waterfront for a day of leisure. Highly recommended spots to check out include M Street Beach, Pleasure Beach, and Castle Island. Since 1951, Sullivan’s at Castle Island has been serving up fried seafood — it’s a can’t-miss Southie destination during the summers. The 2.2-mile walk around Castle Island is a local favorite.
